- Standard PC mice will not work on the Amiga mouse port unless modified.
- If you have an extra serial port, there is driver software to use PC
- serial mice on the Amiga. Both this software and instructions on
- modifying PC mice can be found in the hard/hack or hard/drivr directories
- of Aminet. Software Hut was selling original A1000 mice for $14.95, and
- these original mice lasted quite well, although you'll probably need a DB9
- extension cable to attach it to non-A1000 models. This is the type of
- mouse with the sliding door to take out the ball; the later ones with the
- rotating door were not as tough. (I'm still using my original A1000 mouse
- on the A4000, although the switches have been replaced twice.)
-
- The situation is similar with joysticks. I eventually got tired of cheap
- joysticks and built one out of "real" (coin-op) arcade game components.
